Race the Sun (1996) movies

For movie lovers curious, "Race the Sun" is a mixture of "Breaking Away," "Walking" and "Summer School", which is very unique and much better than its rating. This is an ambitious and technically brilliant, the film somehow manages to cover the natural law, natural beauty of Hawaii and Australia, a number of locations. But the cast and the steering is solid and the story has charm, so you do not mind that it is trite and predictable.

Halle Berry and James Belushi play Hawaiian technical high school teacher who reluctantly sponsored a group of students to build a solar-powered car. "Race to the Sun" was born in Hawaii a group of students who actually came into the world of the Solar Challenge in 1980. The film would have been better if the cartoony bad business has been replaced with some real scientific explanations and a little 'background to the race itself. Speaking of comics, solar car similar to "Wacky Races", but there is no sign of Penelope Pitstop in this fun race.

The school is in Hawaii, which makes it interesting culture of the details (such as Austria is not dirt race set), but the viewer to identify the settings can be anywhere.

Thankfully the film avoids some obvious pitfalls. Berry and Belushi ends sympathy and respect for each other, but it is not mandatory romantic sparks between them. The same goes for Casey Affleck and Eliza Dushku, who plays his half-sister.

Then again, what do I know? I am only a child.
