Gothika "proves that Halle Berry is not just another pretty face. His talent is the same as his drop dead good looks. Berry plays a psychiatrist Miranda Grey, who is content to work for asylum, and happily married his boss, Dr. Douglas Grey (Charles S. Dutton). My colleague, Dr. Pete Graham (Robert Downey Jr.) is also a pleasant aspect ophthalmologist.
One night, Miranda, world 's is reversed. Because he is driving home from work in the rain, suddenly faced with a young girl (Kathleen Mackey) standing in the street. Miranda, a car off the road, but manages to return the girl. The next thing we see is Miranda, the awakening of asylum as a patient and do not know why he is there. He is told that he is suspected of murdering her husband, but I can not remember anything.
Dazed and Confused and unsure of who to trust, she began to try to fill in the blanks in his memory missing. Has it really gone mad, or does it actually commits the crime? She begins to have flashbacks visions, especially after learning the identity of the girl on the road that night. Is there a supernatural element at work here or is Mranda really going crazy? Directed by Mathieu Kassovitz keeps us guessing until the surprise ending.
Berry gives a memorable performance as a doctor confused. She alternates between rational and irrational behavior convincingly. Penelope Cruz plays a patient who had treated Miranda and meets the "inside". Downey did the best he can with his role of the doctor who may know more about the situation that gives Miranda etc.. John Carroll Lynch plays the Sheriff Ryan, who was close friends with Miranda Grey and turned when she is accused of murdering her husband. Others in the cast includes Dorian Harewood as a lawyer Miranda and Bernard Hill as chief psychiatrist.
There are elements of the supernatural mixed in the plot to be sure, but it's beautiful and talented Halle Berry, makes this film unforgettable.
