A woman whose combination of talent, tenacity and beauty has become one of the most Hollywood actors, Halle Berry was a level of success that came after years of hard work and participation in career traps.

Berry interest in show business came courtesy of her participation in a series of beauty pageants throughout her teens, including the assistance of Miss USA 1986. A native of Cleveland, OH, where she was born of a father African-American and white mother, August 14, 1968, Berry raised by her mother, a psychiatric nurse, after her parents divorced. At 17, she appeared in the spotlight for the first time that the winner of the Miss Teen All-American Pageant, and subsequently became a model. Berry won her first professional acting in concert television series Living Dolls, and then appeared on Knots Landing before winning her first screen role in Spike Lee's Jungle Fever. He was on the set of a film that she first earned a reputation for its commitment to act, refused to bathe for weeks in preparation for his portrayal of a crack addict.

After his film debut, Berry was cast alongside Eddie Murphy in Boomerang (1992) as the love interest of comedy, not only did against Murphy, but the same year he made an acclaimed work on the role of Queen Alex Haley miniseries, playing a young woman struggling against the brutal conditions of slavery.

When a sexy secretary Sharon Stone comic touch in 1994, the live-action version of The Flintstones, Berry returned to more serious role in the adoption drama Losing Isaiah Trip (1995). Opposite Jessica Lange as a former crack addict battling to win custody of her children, who as a child was adopted by rich white couple, Berry has received mixed reception from critics, some of whom noted that her scenes Lange highlighted Berry defects.

However, critical opinion of the actor's work has been overwhelmingly favorable in 1998, when he presented the young urban woman who helps bumbling politician in Warren Beatty Bullworth. The following year, Berry won even greater popularity - and Emmy and Golden Globe Award - for her turn as tragic screen siren Dorothy Dandridge in the made-for-cable Introducing Dorothy Dandridge. Unfortunately, any success enjoyed Berry has been overshadowed by her widely publicized brush Law in February 2000, when he would run a red light, slammed into another car, and then left the scene. The actor, who suffered a gash on his forehead (the car other driver still broken wrist), was registered in breach of court in early April of that year.

Fortunately for Berry, his work on display later removed the focus of his legal problems, the same year, she starred as Storm in the successful adaptation of Bryan Singer on X-Men. Working alongside a cast that included Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, Famke Janssen and Anna Paquin, Berry was hailed for his work as the first African-American comic book heroine on the screen. Acclaim has not been as forthcoming for her work with John Travolta in the thriller Swordfish Dominic Sena corny, which presented itself as the first movie to feature Berry bared her breasts. Unfortunately, it was not possible to simply use the talents that Berry possessed above her collarbone.

Berry again, proved more than his character on the inner turmoil in Monster Ball (2001), a romantic drama directed by Marc Forster, the actor who played the role of the woman who should be involved in ex-prison guard racist (Billy Bob Thornton) who oversaw the prison execution of her husband (Sean Combs). Berry earned wide critical acclaim for the work in the film as well as Golden Globe and Oscar nominations for Best Actress. And although he may have lost Sissy Spacek in the Golden Globe, an Oscar for his night has found a privileged interpreter Berry won the statue for Best Actress. An important note in the history of the Academy Award-winning Berry was the first African-American had been granted this special honor.
